About ICFJ
Our Mission:
The International Center for Journalists, a non-profit, professional organization, promotes quality journalism worldwide in the belief that independent, vigorous media are crucial in improving the human condition.
Expertise
Journalists, media managers and citizen journalists worldwide benefit from what ICFJ has to offer—practical, hands-on programs that marry best professional practices with the latest digital innovations. For nearly three decades, we have developed teams of seasoned experts with in-depth knowledge of all media platforms.
Global Reach
From China to Mexico, Pakistan to Ghana, ICFJ leads programs around the world. We work with strong local partners and a network of dedicated alumni. We also run the leading website for international journalists and provide an extensive array of online courses. In all, we have worked with 70,000 participants from 180 countries over 27 years.
Lasting Impact
ICFJ does more than train citizen and professional journalists. We launch news organizations, media associations, journalism schools and news products. We help journalists develop stories that lead to better public policies such as improved access to health care and cleaner environments. Our trainees expose corruption, increase transparency and hold officials accountable to their citizens.
Innovation
We are advancing new ways to create, deliver and share news through cutting-edge technology. We are forming networks of citizen journalists who for the first time are bringing news via cell phones to underserved communities. We are training journalists in some of the most repressive societies to use social networks to distribute their stories. And we are helping media organizations to harness content from citizens for reports on crime, corruption, the environment and health.
